CHAPTER 10TH - THE UNEXPECTED PROPOSAL

Aman had been talking to Roshni every day, but their conversations were limited to casual greetings like “hello”, “good morning”, and “good night”. Roshni didn't seem to be interested in taking their conversations further, and Aman respected her boundaries.

However, Aman would occasionally pick Roshni up from college, and that's when he would also get to meet her friend Natasha. Natasha, on the other hand, was always thrilled to see Aman. She had had a crush on him for, and every time she met him, she couldn't help but feel a flutter in her heart.

Roshni and Natasha were studying in the library, surrounded by stacks of books and the quiet hum of fluorescent lights. Natasha looked up from her notes and asked Roshni in a hushed tone,

natasha - “Hey, Roshni, when is Aman coming to pick you up again?”

Roshni shrugged, her expression nonchalant.

Roshni - “I don't know, but honestly, I feel like Mr. Rathore is getting too clingy. He's always calling and texting me, it's like he's stuck to me like glue.”

Natasha's eyes widened in surprise, and she leaned in closer to Roshni.

natasha - “Don't say that, he's a great man!”

Roshni raised an eyebrow, her tone skeptical.

Roshni - “You're defending him? What's going on?”

Natasha's face turned bright red as she whispered,

natasha - “I like him, okay? Every girl in college likes him. You're just not interested, that's fine. But please, can I just have a chance with him? My heart skips a beat when I see him… please, Roshni, help me out!”

Roshni rolled her eyes, her expression annoyed.

Roshni - You're crazy, Natasha.”

She quickly gathered her belongings and stood up, walked out of the library, leaving natasha behind.

As they walked out of the library, Natasha followed close behind Roshni, still chattering excitedly about Aman. Roshni ignored her, her eyes scanning the college grounds as they walked towards the gate.

As they emerged from the college building, Roshni's eyes landed on Aman, who was standing by his car, waiting for her. She looked surprised, her eyes widening in shock. Natasha, on the other hand, let out a squeal of delight, her eyes shining with excitement.

Natasha bounced up to Aman, a flirtatious glint in her eye.

Natasha - “Hi, handsome!” she exclaimed,

batting her eyelashes. Aman nodded politely, and he Instead turned his attention to Roshni.

Aman - are you done with class?” he asked,

his voice warm and friendly. Roshni nodded, about to respond, but Natasha jumped in before she could.

Natasha - “Yeah, we're done, and we're actually going on a college trip for a week, so no classes!”

Natasha announced, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

Aman's eyes lit up.

Aman - “That sounds amazing! You guys must be thrilled.”

Natasha nodded enthusiastically.

Natasha - “I am. Roshni's not coming, though. Just me.”

Aman's gaze shifted to Roshni, his eyes questioning. Roshni shrugged, her expression matter-of-fact.

Roshni - “My dad didn't give me permission,” she explained.

Aman nodded understandingly, his expression sympathetic. He didn't press the issue further, seeming to sense that Roshni didn't want to talk about it.

The conversation hung in the air for a moment, before Natasha piped up again, trying to fill the awkward silence. But Aman just smiled politely, his eyes still on Roshni, before turning back to Natasha.

"Okay, let's get in the car," Aman said,

opening the door for Roshni. Roshni hesitated,

Roshni - "But where are we going?"

Aman smiled, "We'll talk about it on the way."

He gestured for Roshni to get in, and she slid into the passenger seat. Aman got in behind the wheel, and they drove off, leaving Natasha standing alone, feeling a pang of disappointment.

As they drove, Roshni asked again, "Where are we going?"

Aman glanced at her, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

Aman - "We're going to spend some time together. We'll go shopping, grab some food, and just hang out. Since you don't have college for a week, I thought it would be great to spend some quality time together."

Roshni listened, her expression thoughtful. She couldn't help but notice how eager Aman was to spend time with her. It was almost as if he were desperate to be with her. She felt a flutter in her chest, and a small smile played on her lips. She didn't know why, but she felt happy, almost carefree..

Aman, oblivious to Roshni's thoughts, continued to drive, his eyes fixed on the road ahead. He was determined to make the most of their time together, to get to know her better, and to show her how much he cared. Little did he know, Roshni was already starting to feel a connection, one that she couldn't quite explain.

Aman took Roshni on a shopping spree, buying her all sorts of things despite her protests. Roshni insisted that she didn't need anything, but Aman wouldn't listen. He seemed determined to spoil her rotten.

As they shopped, Roshni tried to decline Aman's offers, but he just smiled and handed his credit card to the sales associates.

“Consider it a gift,” he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.

After they finished shopping, Aman took Roshni to a nearby restaurant to have some food. He ordered for them, and as they waited for their food to arrive, he turned to Roshni with a curious expression..

Aman - toh kuch bolegi ab aap

Aman asked, his eyes sparkling with interest.

Roshni - kya bolu?  , Roshni shrugged, looking a bit hesitated.

Aman leaned in, his voice taking on a more serious tone.

Aman - “I want to know more about you, Roshni. You're always so reserved on the phone, but I feel like there's more to you than meets the eye. Tell me something about yourself.”

Roshni leaned back in her chair, her eyes narrowing slightly.

Roshni - “Mr. Rathore, you have a lot of power and influence. You were able to find my mobile number easily, so I'm sure you could also find out more information about me.”

Aman smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners.

Aman - “Yes, I could have found out more about you, but that's not what I want. I want to get to know you, Roshni. I want to hear about your life, your interests, and your dreams from you, not from some file or report.”

Roshni hesitated for a moment before speaking up..

Roshni - “You know my name, but I suppose you don't know much else about me. My father, Vivek Kapoor, is a well-known businessman in India. I'm his daughter,

Roshni's eyes sparkled with amusement, but Aman's expression was far from amused.

In fact, he looked shocked, his eyes wide with surprise. Roshni's words had clearly caught him off guard, and he seemed to be struggling to process the information. It was as if he had been punched in the gut, and he didn't know how to react.

Aman's mind was racing. He had no idea that Roshni was Vivek Kapoor's daughter. He had issues with Vivek Kapoor, and now he was faced with the reality that the girl he was interested in was the daughter of his adversary.

Roshni's eyes sparkled with amusement as she gazed at Aman's shocked expression.

Roshni - “You look shocked, why? Didn't you expect this about me?” she asked, her voice tinged with curiosity.

Aman's mind was racing as he struggled to process the information.

He thought to himself, “How can this be? Vivek Kapoor is a man consumed by arrogance and attitude, and Roshni is his daughter? And she's so lovely? How is this possible?”

Aman's expression slowly returned to normal, and

he shook his head. “I didn't expect that you would be Mr. Vivek Kapoor's daughter,” he admitted.

Roshni smiled, her eyes shining with warmth.

Roshni - “I'm here to study. Sometimes my parents visit me, as I miss them dearly, and they miss me too.”

Aman nodded, his expression thoughtful. “It seems like your father loves you very much.”

Roshni's smile grew wider.

Roshni - “Not just very much, but more than that. My father loves me the most, and I love him the most too. His approval means the world to me, and I consider his opinion above all else when making decisions.”

Aman nodded again, his eyes locked onto Roshni's face as he committed her words to memory.

Roshni - and Dance is my passion, my obsession, my dream. It's everything to me, and I'm determined to make a career out of it.”

Roshni smiled, her eyes sparkling with curiosity.

Roshni - “And then there's Natasha, my best friend. You've met her, I think.”

She leaned in, her voice taking on a more intimate tone.

Roshni - “I've told you about myself, now it's your turn. Tell me more about yourself and your family.”

Aman's expression turned thoughtful, and he began to open up about his life.

Aman - “I completed my studies and then set up my own business here in New York. That's why I settled here. My family is back in India, and it's a big family. I prefer to keep my personal life private, and I like to live life on my own terms.”

Roshni listened intently, her eyes locked onto Aman's face. She felt a pang of surprise that Aman lived so far away from his family, but she didn't press the issue further. She observed Aman's behavior and thought to herself, “Aman is such a talkative person.” However, what Roshni didn't realize was that Aman's talkative nature was specifically reserved for her.

Aman and Roshni spent the day exploring New York City together, As the sun began to set, they decided to grab dinner at a cozy Italian restaurant in Little Italy.

As they finished their meal, Aman offered to drop Roshni back home. She nodded, feeling a pang of disappointment that the evening was coming to an end. As they drove through the city streets, Roshni gazed out the window, lost in thought. She had felt a sense of comfort and ease with Aman that she couldn't explain.

Aman, too, was feeling a sense of reluctance as he drove Roshni home. He had been drawn to her from the moment they met, and spending the day with her had only strengthened his attraction. He couldn't quite put his finger on it, but there was something about Roshni that made him feel alive.

As they drove in silence for the past 15 minutes, Aman finally broke the silence.

Aman - “How did you feel spending time with me?” he asked, his eyes fixed on the road ahead.

Roshni was silent for a moment, her gaze locked onto Aman's profile as he drove. She was searching for the right words to express her feelings, as Aman had genuinely made her feel special. She was mustering up the courage to speak her mind.

Aman waited patiently for her response, his eyes occasionally glancing at Roshni's reflection in the rearview mirror. He finally pulled up to the curb in front of Roshni's apartment building, putting the car in park.

Roshni took a deep breath before speaking up.

Roshni - “It felt amazing,” she said,

her voice barely above a whisper.

Roshni - “Time just flew by…it felt like..."

She paused, her eyes locked onto Aman's, and a soft smile spread across her face.

Aman's eyes sparkled with curiosity, and he raised an eyebrow.

Aman - “Like?” he asked, his voice low and husky.

Roshni knew that what she was about to say might not be funny, but she tried to lighten the mood.

Roshni - "I felt like you didn't treat me like a friend, but like your girlfriend,” she said, a hint of playfulness in her voice.

Roshni - “You're behaving exactly like a boyfriend would with his girlfriend.”

As soon as Roshni finished speaking, Aman's eyes widened in shock and surprise. He stared at her, his eyes frozen on hers, and for a moment, he seemed to forget to blink. Then, in an instant, he spoke up.

Aman - "So, why don't you become my girlfriend?" He asked, his voice low and serious.

Roshni's eyes widened in shock, and she felt like she had been punched in the gut.

She couldn't believe what she was hearing. She had been joking, but Aman seemed dead serious.

Roshni's voice trembled as she spoke, her words stuttering out of her mouth.

Roshni - “Mr. Rathore... you, I… was... just... joking.”

Aman's gaze never wavered from hers, his eyes burning with intensity.

Aman - “But I'm saying it seriously,” he said, his voice low and husky.

Roshni's heart skipped a beat as Aman's words washed over her. She felt her pulse racing, and her face grew hot with embarrassment. She tried to look away, but Aman's eyes seemed to hold her captive.

“Mr. Rathore...” Roshni began,

but Aman's gaze never left hers. It was as if he was willing her to look at him, to see the sincerity in his eyes.

Slowly, Aman reached out and took Roshni's hand, his fingers wrapping around hers like a warm embrace. Roshni's eyes widened in shock as Aman gently pulled her closer, their faces inches apart.

The air seemed to vibrate with tension as they gazed into each other's eyes. Roshni's heart was racing, and she could feel Aman's pulse pounding in time with hers. The proximity between them was electric, and Roshni felt like she was drowning in the depths of Aman's eyes.
